When I choose to draw someone, it's usually because I am inspired by them, look up to them, respect them, or am wowed by their talents. In the case of Candace Parker, its all four. I actually was fortunate enough to have met her and her daughter, years ago in DC, at Howard University's Homecoming Celebrity basketball game. She was so nice and genuine.

Here are a few behind the scenes shots of my process. I began the project in Adobe Illustrator Draw with my trusty Apple Pencil.
I liked where this was going, so it was time to add some color.
After I added the remaining colors, I added her name and some design effects in Adobe Illustrator.
Initially, I created these two designs and thought that it was still missing something.... Until it struck me that maybe I should combine them.
Here is the finished project. Candace Parker, arguably one of the greatest players in the history of the WNBA and the NCAA.
